OVERHEAD
on an altar in my backyard
other gods sleep restless
backs turned opposite of the SUN
rising portals gently awaken
breathing heart held overhead
for everyone to see
even the sun god himself
even the moon god herself
as the fire creeps up the blood
stream warm on shoulder seeps down
a backroad she whispers in her sleep
a half a tank of gas will get us far enough
ENRAPTURED
lone tears after midnight
staining cosmic satin
where two or more gather
at your tombstone is where
you'll find the mercy seat
it is where you will find
god's reflection
sharpening ideals out of plague
and solitude lightly tarred with feathers
